Spirit Airlines has done away with change and cancellation fees.
The move follows discount competitor Frontier, which introduced new fare bundles on Friday, doing away with change and cancellation fees for all but its Basic fares.
Spirit quietly made its changes on Friday, as well.
"This new policy is among the best in the industry because it applies to each and every guest," the carrier said in an emailed statement. "We have many other enhancements in the works and look forward to sharing more soon."
Change fees at Spirit previously ranged from $69 to $119.
During an earnings call early this month, Spirit executives said they were planning changes to appeal to higher-end flyers as well as the overall traveling public.
The carrier recorded a $207 million operating loss in the first quarter.
"As we have said, Spirit has been evaluating changes to our product and strategy that will help us better compete, elevate the guest experience and return to profitability," the airline said Monday.
